Deadlock public release: Dec 2027Not announced: our best guess from Valve's Sep 29, 2026 development note and press estimates.
Best guessValve gives no date: its Steam page says "To be announced" and access is limited to friend invites. Its Sep 29, 2026 City Never Sleeps post lists work still to do before full release (progression, hero and Hideout customization, the Mid-Boss, Guardians and Walkers, hero remodels), its big updates have come about eight months apart, and Beebom's Oct 1, 2026 estimate is "late 2027 or early 2028", so we count to the end of 2027. Hero Tier List

In Deadlock's October 2026 meta, Graves and Rat King have the highest measured win rates (about 55% in Ranked, deadlock-api, Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026), while outlet tier lists disagree: Dexerto's top tier (Oct 9) includes Abrams, Haze, Yamato, Victor, Billy, Graves and Celeste, and Mobalytics' expert list (Oct 22) puts Baba, Celeste, Rem and Nurse Harrow on top.

The Deadlock heroes winning most in October 2026 are Graves and Rat King: deadlock-api measured them at 55.5% and 55.1% in Ranked from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026, the days after Valve's Oct 14 patch, followed by Kelvin, Baba and Paige. The outlets' tier lists rank the 44 heroes very differently from each other and from the numbers: Dexerto's Oct 9, 2026 list puts Abrams, Haze, Yamato, Victor, Billy, Graves and Celeste in S tier, while the Mobalytics expert list of Oct 22, 2026 puts Baba, Celeste, Rem and Nurse Harrow in S+ and Graves in C. This page sets the published lists beside the measured win and pick rates, all dated, and gives no ranking of its own. The roster is on Heroes.

Every hero: tier lists and measured rates

The table lists all 44 heroes by Ranked win rate. The tiers are Dexerto's (Oct 9, 2026, written for City Never Sleeps, before Violet, Deadman Danny, Nurse Harrow and Solomon could be rated) and the Mobalytics expert list by RinaVX (Oct 22, 2026, which leaves out Silver). The rates are deadlock-api's measurements: the Ranked win rate and the share of Ranked matches a hero appeared in (Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026, 250,751 matches), and the win rate across all normal matches, Ranked and Standard (Oct 15 to Oct 25, 2026, 1.57 million matches).

Source: Dexerto: Deadlock Tier List, Oct 9, 2026; Mobalytics (RinaVX): Expert Deadlock Tier List, Oct 22, 2026; deadlock-api's Ranked hero stats and all-match hero stats, measured Oct 26, 2026. Dexerto's text calls Rat King A tier, though his card was not found in the tier rows read on Oct 26, 2026. A win rate is a measurement of other players' games, not a verdict on a hero.

What the numbers say

Graves leads every measurement. She won 57.6% of all normal matches from Oct 15 to Oct 25, 2026, the most of any hero, and 55.5% in Ranked; in deadlock-api's matchups she is the hardest opponent for most heroes, with Shiv winning only 37.2% of games against her and The Doorman 37.5%. Tracklock's live tier list, read on Oct 26, 2026, agrees closely, with Graves at 55.62% and Rat King at 55.21% in its top band. See Graves.

Rat King is everywhere. He appeared in 73.5% of Ranked matches from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026, ahead of Deadman Danny (69.5%), Violet (63.8%) and Haze (53.2%), and still won 55.1% of them even after Valve's Oct 5, 2026 patch cut his ultimate. See Rat King.

The top of Ranked looks different. In matches whose players average Phantom I or higher (38,359 matches since Oct 15, 2026), deadlock-api measured Baba 55.6%, Wraith 54.7%, Kelvin 54.4%, Graves 53.9%, Ivy 53.6%, Rat King 53.5% and Celeste 53.1%, with Deadman Danny lowest at 43.6%. Baba and Celeste do better at high rank than overall, which fits the Mobalytics expert's high rating of both.

The least played heroes are also losing. Warden (7.4% of Ranked matches), Mirage (7.7%), Sinclair (8.3%), Viscous (9.8%) and McGinnis (10.0%) were the rarest Ranked picks, and Mirage (43.1%) and Warden (43.5%) had the lowest Ranked win rates. In Standard, Pocket and Sinclair were lowest at 44.5%.

The outlet tier lists

Dexerto's list (Oct 9, 2026) was written for City Never Sleeps. Its S tier is Abrams, Haze, Yamato, Victor, Billy, Graves and Celeste; A tier holds Lady Geist, Wraith, McGinnis, Kelvin, Calico, Mo & Krill, Ivy, Paige and the newcomers Baba and Rat King, of whom Dexerto writes that Rat King "is a tanky frontline brawler who strips Bullet Resist". Its D tier is Sinclair and Apollo.

The Mobalytics expert list (RinaVX, Oct 22, 2026) is the most recent. It puts Baba, Celeste, Rem and Nurse Harrow in S+ and calls Baba "the best hero in the game" despite her low measured win rates at the time; S tier is Yamato, Abrams, The Doorman, Pocket, Venator, Ivy and Violet, and D tier Apollo and Warden. The same expert writes that Plated Armor is "the premier defense" against Celeste and Baba.

Dot Esports' list (Aug 25, 2026) predates City Never Sleeps. It rated Celeste, Seven, Ivy, Graves, Victor and Kelvin S tier and Rem, Silver, Grey Talon, Pocket and Mirage D, calling Seven "the answer for most players" and Mirage the worst hero. Esports.gg's July 2026 list, written for the Jul 9, 2026 patch, had Billy, The Doorman, Haze, Mirage and Pocket at the top and described a meta of Spirit and Echo Shard builds.

The lists disagree sharply. Graves is S at Dexerto and Dot Esports and tops the measured win rates, but the Mobalytics expert puts her in C; Seven is S at Dot Esports, B at Dexerto and C at Mobalytics; The Doorman and Pocket are S at Mobalytics while winning under 46% in Ranked. Expert lists weigh what a hero can do in the best hands, while win rates average every player, so read both. Game8 and IGN lists could not be checked for this page.

How the meta moved after City Never Sleeps

City Never Sleeps (Sep 29, 2026) rebuilt the map and added six heroes, but changed few hero numbers at launch; TheGamer noted two days in that "there hasn't been a balance patch yet". The new heroes arrived two a week from Oct 2 to Oct 20, 2026, in the order players voted: Rat King, Baba, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Violet and Nurse Harrow. See City Never Sleeps Update and Hero Voting.

Valve's Oct 5, 2026 patch cut Rat King and Sinclair. Rat King's ultimate, Rule, Ratannia!, went from a 130s to a 160s cooldown, its damage reduction from 20% to 15% and its radius from 24m to 20m, while Scrap Grenade and Rat Swarm were buffed; Sinclair lost health regen and bullet damage (17.76 to 16.5).

Valve's Oct 14, 2026 patch cut Baba and raised Deadman Danny. Baba now has -7% base Bullet Resistance, and Threadsap's cooldown rose from 26s to 28s; Deadman Danny's base health went from 680 to 730 and his uncharged gun damage from 12 to 15; the item Radiant Regeneration lost spirit scaling. Danny still trails at 46.3% in Ranked since.

The new map changed items as much as heroes. The Mobalytics expert writes that its extra crates make Sprint Boots and Fortitude "feel mandatory", Veil Walker weaker and Shadow Weave stronger. Two weeks before City Never Sleeps, Valve's Sep 16, 2026 patch had nerfed Celeste, Warden and Wraith and buffed Silver, Haze, Paige and Shiv. Every change is on Patches and Updates.

Reading a tier list

Use win rates with care. deadlock-api's matchup data is raw: Graves, Rat King and Paige top almost every hero's worst-matchup list because they win more against everyone, so read a matchup against the hero's own average. A hero also climbs or falls with the players who pick it: a popular new hero is played by many people still learning it. For a first hero, comfort counts more than tier: see Best Heroes for Beginners. For answers to strong heroes, see Counter Items.
