Deadlock public release: Dec 2027Not announced: our best guess from Valve's Sep 29, 2026 development note and press estimates.
Best guessValve gives no date: its Steam page says "To be announced" and access is limited to friend invites. Its Sep 29, 2026 City Never Sleeps post lists work still to do before full release (progression, hero and Hideout customization, the Mid-Boss, Guardians and Walkers, hero remodels), its big updates have come about eight months apart, and Beebom's Oct 1, 2026 estimate is "late 2027 or early 2028", so we count to the end of 2027. Mina

Mina is a Deadlock vampire hero, a glass cannon whose passive Love Bites adds spirit damage to her pistol shots; she executes with Rake, escapes as bats with Sanguine Retreat and silences with her ultimate, Nox Nostra. Valve added her on Aug 18, 2025.

Mina is a Deadlock hero who plays as a ranged glass cannon: her passive, Love Bites, turns pistol hits into bursts of spirit damage, Rake finishes troopers and wounded heroes, Sanguine Retreat turns her into bats to escape, and her ultimate, Nox Nostra, releases a swarm of bats that silence. Valve called her "a glass cannon that delivers quick bursts of Spirit damage at range" when it added her on Aug 18, 2025, the first of its Six New Heroes, released ahead of the five that players then voted on (Hero Voting).

Rake is her lane and finishing tool. It heals 25 per kill (0.3 per point of Spirit Power), and Mina can float with her umbrella for up to 4s, a time Valve raised from 2.5s on Mar 6, 2026. T1 adds 60 damage, T2 adds 30 heal per kill and cuts 8s from the cooldown, and T3 adds 7% more missing-health damage and 1.2 heal scaling, per the game files.

Sanguine Retreat is her escape. T1 grants 25% fire rate and 8 extra bullets for 8s on cast, T2 cuts 10s from the cooldown, and T3 adds a second recast and 4m of range, per the game files. Valve stopped it from resetting air jumps and dashes on Nov 21, 2025.

Love Bites is her damage engine. Each bullet adds 4 spirit damage (0.09 scaling), and the bite itself deals 45 bonus damage with 1.85 spirit scaling, once every 10s per target. T1 slows 24% for 3s on proc, T2 adds 3 damage per bullet and 45 bite damage, and T3 cuts 5s from the per-target cooldown and grants 25% fire rate for 5s on proc, per the game files. Each bite also makes her stronger for the rest of the match, as Valve's reveal put it: every proc on a hero permanently adds 2 bats to Nox Nostra, up to 50 more.

Nox Nostra is her team-fight ultimate: each bat hit deals 4.6 damage (raised from 4.45 on Jun 30, 2026) and silences. T1 adds 1.9 damage per hit, T2 cuts 45s from the cooldown, and T3 adds 0.5% of the target's current health per hit, per the game files.

How to play

Mina plays from range, landing pistol shots to trigger Love Bites and escaping before she is caught. Mobalytics' Mina guide lists high mobility, burst from Rake, Love Bites and Nox Nostra, and sustain as her strengths, and her glass-cannon health, poor weapon scaling and items that hard-counter her as weaknesses. She starts with 660 health and gains only 27 per boon, per the game files.

In lane, Rake clears troopers under 60% health and heals her per kill, while Love Bites punishes enemies who trade. Dexerto's Mina build (Feb 26, 2026) unlocks Rake, Sanguine Retreat, Love Bites and then Nox Nostra. See Ability Points and Leveling for how points come in.

In fights, she wants to proc Love Bites on as many heroes as she can before casting Nox Nostra, since every proc adds bats for good. Sanguine Retreat is her only escape, so she holds it until she is targeted.

Builds

Players build Mina for spirit, as deadlock-api measured in her matches from Oct 15 to 25, 2026:

Phase Most bought (share of her matches)
Lane Extra Spirit 95%, Mystic Burst 90%, Quicksilver Reload 72%
Mid game Tankbuster 79%, Stamina Mastery 77%, Boundless Spirit 44%
Late game Spirit Burn 45%, Boundless Spirit 36%, Superior Cooldown 32%

Source: deadlock-api, item stats for Mina, Oct 15 to Oct 25, 2026.

Dexerto's build runs Extra Spirit, Mystic Burst, Healing Rite, Cold Front and Extra Stamina early; Improved Spirit, Kinetic Dash, Dispel Magic, Toxic Bullets and Stamina Mastery mid; and Superior Cooldown, Boundless Spirit, Spirit Burn, Surge of Power and Spirit Rend late. Most of these are Spirit Items, with Healing Rite, Extra Stamina, Dispel Magic and Stamina Mastery from Vitality Items and Kinetic Dash, Toxic Bullets and Spirit Rend from Weapon Items. Items and Shop explains costs and slots.

Counters and matchups

Mina is countered by anything that stops her escape or bursts her low health, Mobalytics' guide says: Slowing Hex shuts off Sanguine Retreat, burst such as Pocket's Enchanter's Satchel or Sinclair's Vexing Bolt kills her, and fast-firing guns such as Infernus or Wraith chip her out. Among Counter Items, Mobalytics' Street Brawl guide (Aug 27, 2026) also lists Cursed Relic against her.

Measured matchups put her worst against Graves (36.8% win rate when facing), Rat King (38.4%) and Paige (38.5%), and best against Mirage (50.8%), Pocket (50.6%) and Shiv (49.8%), in deadlock-api's counter stats for Oct 15 to 25, 2026. Graves, Rat King and Paige win more against almost everyone in that window, so read those numbers against her own 44.94% average.
