Deadlock public release: Dec 2027Not announced: our best guess from Valve's Sep 29, 2026 development note and press estimates.
Best guessValve gives no date: its Steam page says "To be announced" and access is limited to friend invites. Its Sep 29, 2026 City Never Sleeps post lists work still to do before full release (progression, hero and Hideout customization, the Mid-Boss, Guardians and Walkers, hero remodels), its big updates have come about eight months apart, and Beebom's Oct 1, 2026 estimate is "late 2027 or early 2028", so we count to the end of 2027. Weapon Items

Deadlock has 53 Weapon items as of Oct 26, 2026: 7 at Tier 1 (800 souls), 16 at Tier 2 (1,600), 19 at Tier 3 (3,200) and 11 at Tier 4 (6,400). High-Velocity Rounds is the most bought, in 27.7% of hero-matches from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026.

Deadlock has 53 Weapon items as of Oct 26, 2026: 7 in Tier 1 at 800 souls, 16 in Tier 2 at 1,600, 19 in Tier 3 at 3,200 and 11 in Tier 4 at 6,400, as the game files list them. Weapon items strengthen your gun: weapon damage, fire rate, ammo, bullet velocity, and effects on hit such as slows, resist shred, anti-heal and silences. Eight of them are actives, used with a key; the other 45 work on their own. Every hero can buy them, and spending souls on them raises your Weapon investment bonus (see Items and Shop). Deadlock is an invite-only playtest, and Valve changes these numbers often, so each change below carries its date.

Most bought Weapon items

High-Velocity Rounds is the most bought Weapon item, in 27.7% of hero-matches from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026, deadlock-api's measured item stats show, bought on average at 4.6 minutes. Next came Opening Rounds (22.6%), its upgrade; Swift Striker (22.4%); Rapid Rounds (20.6%), Swift Striker's component; Monster Rounds (18.7%); and Titanic Magazine (17.0%). Spirit items are bought more often overall: Extra Spirit appeared in 52.6% of hero-matches in the same window.

The first Weapon buys come early in lane. Restorative Shot was bought on average at 3.4 minutes and Monster Rounds at 4.4 minutes in the same measurement, which fits both items' jobs: Restorative Shot heals off every trooper and orb, and Monster Rounds speeds up farming troopers and Haunts.

Measured win rates favor late items. Among items bought over 200,000 times from Oct 12 to Oct 26, 2026, deadlock-api measured Silencer at 58.5%, Lucky Shot at 58.3% and Frenzy at 58.1%, partly because teams that are already winning reach Tier 4. These are measurements, not a verdict on the items.

Core Weapon items outlets recommend

Gun builds rest on a few chains that outlets keep recommending. Dexerto's Rat King build (Oct 5, 2026) starts with High-Velocity Rounds, Monster Rounds and Extended Magazine, adds Opening Rounds, Recharging Rush and Intensifying Magazine in the middle game, and ends on Siphon Bullets and Inhibitor. Mobalytics' Carry Haze build (updated Oct 22, 2026) goes "all the fire rate items like Burst Fire and Swift Striker", then Hunter's Aura for resist shred and Ricochet "to make Bullet Dance hit multiple people", with Silencer late. Builds by hero are on each hero's page, and the theory is on Builds and Itemization.

Some Weapon items are bought to answer the enemy rather than to add damage. Toxic Bullets and Crippling Headshot cut healing, Silencer silences, Slowing Bullets and Weighted Shots slow, and Hunter's Aura lowers enemy fire rate; Counter Items lists them by threat.
