Deadlock public release: Dec 2027Not announced: our best guess from Valve's Sep 29, 2026 development note and press estimates.
Best guessValve gives no date: its Steam page says "To be announced" and access is limited to friend invites. Its Sep 29, 2026 City Never Sleeps post lists work still to do before full release (progression, hero and Hideout customization, the Mid-Boss, Guardians and Walkers, hero remodels), its big updates have come about eight months apart, and Beebom's Oct 1, 2026 estimate is "late 2027 or early 2028", so we count to the end of 2027. Vitality Items

Deadlock has 54 Vitality items as of Oct 26, 2026: 8 at Tier 1 (800 souls), 15 at Tier 2 (1,600), 14 at Tier 3 (3,200) and 17 at Tier 4 (6,400). Extra Regen is the most bought, in 36.1% of hero-matches from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026.

Deadlock has 54 Vitality items as of Oct 26, 2026, the largest of the three categories: 8 in Tier 1 at 800 souls, 15 in Tier 2 at 1,600, 14 in Tier 3 at 3,200 and 17 in Tier 4 at 6,400, as the game files list them. Vitality items keep a hero alive and moving: health, regeneration, lifesteal, bullet and spirit resist, barriers, sprint and stamina, and the cleanses and crowd-control immunity that answer enemy abilities. Eighteen of them are actives. Spending souls on them raises your Vitality investment bonus, a percentage of base health (see Items and Shop). Deadlock is an invite-only playtest, and the numbers below are dated because Valve changes them often.

Source: the game files, read Oct 26, 2026; changes from Valve's Apr 30, 2026, May 22, 2026 and Sep 16, 2026 notes. The game files give Juggernaut no description, so who its fire rate reduction applies to is not stated there.

Most bought Vitality items

Extra Regen is the most bought Vitality item, in 36.1% of hero-matches from Oct 15 to Oct 26, 2026, and it is bought on average at 5.0 minutes, deadlock-api's measured item stats show. Next came Extra Stamina (27.3%), Sprint Boots (25.9%), Healing Booster (24.5%), Enduring Speed (23.0%) and Extra Health (22.9%), then Healbane, Spirit Lifesteal and Spirit Resilience (20.4% each), Fortitude (19.1%) and Grit (18.9%).

The list shows what players value: sustain in lane, then movement across the map. Three of the top five are mobility items (Extra Stamina, Sprint Boots, Enduring Speed), which matches the advice of Mobalytics' expert tier list (Oct 22, 2026) that the City Never Sleeps map makes Sprint Boots and Fortitude near-mandatory for map presence.

Siphon Bullets has the highest measured win rate of any item bought over 200,000 times, 58.6% from Oct 12 to Oct 26, 2026, by deadlock-api's measurement. Metal Skin was among the lowest, 41.8%. Late items look stronger partly because teams already ahead reach them, so these numbers describe matches, not item strength alone.

When to buy Vitality

Every hero needs some Vitality, whatever its build: Game Rant puts it plainly, writing that gun builds suit heroes with a reliable weapon while Vitality items are needed by every hero. The investment bonus rewards it too: Valve's May 22, 2026 table gives +20% base health at 3,200 souls spent on Vitality and +38% at 4,800.

Buy sustain early when the lane goes badly. PC Gamer's beginner tips (Sep 4, 2024) recommend Healing Rite or Extra Regen in a hard lane, sold later when slots run short. Extra Regen's measured average buy time of 5.0 minutes shows how many players follow that.

Buy resists against what is killing you. Spirit Resilience, Spellbreaker and Witchmail answer ability damage, and Bullet Resilience, Metal Skin and Plated Armor answer guns, by the effects the game files list. Dexerto's Abrams guide calls Spirit Resilience "a major defensive spike against ability-heavy heroes." The full list by threat is on Counter Items, and build theory on Builds and Itemization.
