The Doorman
The Doorman is a Deadlock spirit hero, the bellhop of the Baroness Hotel, who slows with Call Bell, drags enemies with Luggage Cart, links two places with Doorway and sends a hero away with Hotel Guest. Valve added him on Aug 22, 2025.
The Doorman is a Deadlock spirit hero who controls the map: Call Bell slows and blinds enemies' aim, Luggage Cart drags them into walls, Doorway links two doors for his team, and his ultimate, Hotel Guest, removes an enemy from the fight to the Baroness Hotel. Valve introduced him on Aug 22, 2025 as "proper", "polite" and "more than meets the eye", the third of the Six New Heroes of 2025; he won his vote against Paige by only 0.85%, Valve said. He is one of 44 Heroes on Oct 26, 2026.

Call Bell is his lane tool. The bell keeps slowing enemies near it until it goes off, and it can be shot to set it off early. Its -40% accuracy is why Mobalytics' guide calls it "most useful against gun-based carries like Wraith and Haze". The game files list T1 +1 charge, T2 +30 impact and +40 explosion damage, and T3 +4.5 m radius, +26s bell lifetime and +0.35 spirit scaling.
Doorway is a shortcut for his whole team. Both doors last 15 seconds, and shots through them fall off by the distance the bullet actually traveled, a fix from Valve's Nov 21, 2025 update. Its T1 adds +20s, T2 gives a 250 barrier for 12s the first time through, and T3 adds +30 m cast range and +40 m between doors (game files).
Luggage Cart is his engage. The cart carries enemy heroes along its path; with T2 (+25 m range and +75 damage on wall impact) and T3 (-15s cooldown and a 1.25s stun on wall impact) it pins them against walls (game files). Since Aug 12, 2026 Walkers and base turrets wait until a dragged enemy is dropped before they target them.
Hotel Guest takes one enemy out of a fight. The stay costs the guest 75 spirit damage, and a late check-out 125 more, values Valve halved on Mar 6, 2026. Its T1 drains 1 stamina per second and cuts 20s of cooldown, T2 adds 150 damage and a 1.5s stun for a failed check-out, and T3 makes him Unstoppable while the hotel is occupied, with only a 15s cooldown after a failed check-out (game files).
How to play
The Doorman is played as a utility spirit hero who sets up kills for his team. Mobalytics' guide lists his strengths as crowd control, high damage from Call Bell, Hotel Guest and Luggage Cart, and a Doorway useful "for anything like setting up teammates spells and escaping dangerous fights"; his weaknesses are no mobility of his own, low health and a kit that is hard to pick up.
In lane his gun is better than it looks. Mobalytics' build by rina says it "is actually fairly strong in lane" and starts with Extra Charge to throw Call Bell more often (Mobalytics, Oct 22, 2026).
In fights, use Hotel Guest on the enemy carry, then fight the rest five against four. The same build plays a Vortex Web, Luggage Cart, exit Doorway combo once Vortex Web is bought.
Builds
Outlets build The Doorman for spirit damage and cooldowns. Mobalytics' Spirit Doorman by rina (updated Oct 22, 2026) is a "Straight forward Spirit and Utility Doorman build" (Mobalytics):
| Phase | Items |
|---|---|
| Early | Extra Charge, Sharpshooter and Mystic Shot or Recharging Rush, Trophy Collector, Veil Walker |
| Mid | Rapid Recharge, Mystic Shot with Tankbuster and Spirit Burn, Vortex Web |
| Late | Cheat Death (with the Doorway T2 barrier), Transcendent Cooldown, Boundless Spirit |
| Situational | Majestic Leap, Dispel Magic, Counterspell, Knockdown against fliers such as Vindicta or Celeste, Reactive Barrier |

What players buy leans on charges and range. deadlock-api measured Extra Charge in 88% of Doorman games, Mystic Burst in 87%, Mystic Expansion in 85%, Rapid Recharge in 81% and Tankbuster in 79% (Oct 15 to 26, 2026). The items are in Spirit Items, Vitality Items and Weapon Items; how buying works in Items and Shop.
Counters and matchups
Spirit resist, cleanses and pressure on his low health counter The Doorman. Mobalytics' Street Brawl guide suggests Counterspell against him (Mobalytics, Aug 27, 2026), and Doorway can be silenced since May 22, 2026. More in Counter Items.
He is one of the weakest heroes in the measurements. deadlock-api's matchup measurement (Oct 15 to 26, 2026) has The Doorman winning 37.4% against Graves, 38.7% against Rat King, 39.7% against Victor, 40.4% against Paige and 41.4% against Kelvin, and 51.4% against Mina, 51.0% against Shiv, 50.9% against Pocket and 50.6% against Sinclair and Silver.

Lore
The Doorman is the bellhop of the Baroness Hotel, where, in Valve's words, "only the most special of enemies" stay (Valve, Aug 22, 2025). The game's own hero text (deadlock-api) says he meant to "experience life on this plane for a few weeks" and found the New York service industry "a great way to see the strange demands that please humans".
